I was given an all clear from breast cancer in Jan 2022 after undergoing extensive treatment. I found that working with creativity was my deepest salvation at this time and this rich vein has continued as I am on the other side. I wrote a memoir about my experiences of cancer, for which I am seeking publication. I started making art with coloured pastels - check out my page and slide show of what I have done so far. I also developed a new Qi Gong movement form. I have put together a transitional mentoring programme, both in person and online. With packages to support other women in the midst of major live transitions such as menopause, grief and health crisis. I also continue to offer my shiatsu clinics in various locations.
I am convinced that richness of creativity as a women is crucial to navigating the rite of passage into eldership. As is often the case we teach best what we most need, and to this end my ethos is to foster deep peace and relaxation with my clients. This was the primary foundation for my recovery from cancer which happened as I was going through the menopause. I aim to bring this level of support to other women deep change and I have the intention of establishing a community of women who are living their best lives.
I can often be found walking my cat Taz in the local fields, dancing in nature, and creating beauty of some kind.
And for how I got to where I am:
I developed a passion for body related practices from a young age. I qualified hatha yoga teacher in 1997 in Rishikesh and went on to teach in New Mexico. I then did a Contact yoga training in Canada in 2002 with Tesh Ken Scott and Kamini Desai. This training combined Acro yoga, Partner yoga and Amrit hatha yoga. In 2006 I did a nutritional course at Stonebridge College.
I went on to train with Donna Farhi with specific attention to sacral integrity and spinal alignment within practice and completed a training in Yin yoga with Sarah Lo in 2017. I have been teaching yoga based classes in Somerset, London, Turkey and Copenhagen since 2002.
I developed Release Yoga over the past 16 yrs of working at the Fisher King Centre in Glastonbury, which combines yoga and shiatsu meridian exercises and is a gentle movement based practice. I qualified from the bristol school of shiatsu in 2010 and went on to develop a shiatsu practice. In 2012 I studied movement shiatsu with Bill Palmer which profoundly informed my sessions.
I became a Qi Gong teacher in 2019 after studying with Bob Lowey at the Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Scotland. I ran shiatsu clinics in Somerset, London, Turkey and Copenhagen since 2010 to 2020.
Presently I offer shiatsu and mentoring in Bath and Glastonbury and work online with mentoring and support groups. I also teach Qi Gong and I am interested in becoming an official shiatsu teacher, so watch this space for more offerings to come.
